4th Joint Working Committee Meeting
On 3 June 2009, the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city Joint Working Committee (JWC) held its 4th meeting in Tianjin municipality. The meeting was co-chaired by Mr Mah Bow Tan, Minister for National Development, and Mr Qiu Baoxing, Vice-Minister of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. The meeting noted the progress of the development of the Eco-city, as well as the key areas of work for the year ahead. The meeting also reviewed the six submissions for the Eco-city Urban Design International Competition. Please click here for more details on the JWC meeting. The JWC members also attended the ceremonies for the signing of three Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) relating to the development of the 30 ha-large eco-business park located within the start-up area, as well as the groundbreaking of the park. ![]() Following the JWC meeting, the Ministry of National Development (MND), International Enterprise Singapore (IE) and the Eco-city Administrative Committee (ECAC) jointly organised a briefing on the Tianjin Eco-city for business delegates of the Singapore-Tianjin Economic and Trade Council (STETC). Over 60 representatives from 40 Singapore companies attended the briefing. The briefing provided an update on the project as well as highlighted the investment opportunities in the Eco-city.
